About Eksportfinans
Eksportfinans is the only Norwegian export credit agency. It was established in 1962 as a jointly-owned institution of the Norwegian banks as their specialised vehicle for long-term export financing. Eksportfinans also provides loans on commercial terms (backed by government or high-quality bank guarantees), as well as funding for the local government sector through its wholly-owned subsidiary, KommuneKredit, acquired in 1999.

Since 1978 Eksportfinans has been the sole and exclusive operator of the Norwegian government-supported export financing scheme on behalf of the Royal Ministry of Trade and Industry. The agreement was renewed in 1999. In 2001 the government took a 15 per cent direct ownership stake to underline the importance of Eksportfinans' role and its services vis-à-vis Norwegian exporters. In 2002 Eksportfinans was made exclusively responsible for the management of a new ship financing scheme regulated by the OECD. The agency acts as an agent on behalf of the government in the administration of various subsidies and grants connected with export- and international financing.

Funding strategy
Eksportfinans is a frequent issuer in the USMTN and EMTN markets, including global benchmarks, private placements and Uridashis. Last year the company issued 889 trades in 15 currencies. This year Eksportfinans aims to raise US$14.5 billion in new funding, and expects this to increase in the years to come. Through proactive dialogue with investors Eksportfinans is actively diversifying its distribution globally.

AUD activity in 2008
Eksportfinans has not yet raised Australian dollars via the Kangaroo bond market, but visited Australia in 2006 and it continues to monitor this market. It continues to be active in the Uridashi market, executing three AUD Uridashis year-to-date. In 1999 Eksportfinans established an AMTN programme under Australian legislation. The size of the programme is A$ 2 billion, and the duration of the loans must exceed 365 days.
