Feature: Smaller ADIs exploring all avenues

While Australia’s big four banks have caught the eye with their huge issuance volumes, life has remained tough for the country’s smaller banks. Previously reliant on securitisation, some have sourced bond funding despite a more expensive guarantee for lower-rated issuers and the ongoing inability to fund without government support.

Q&A: New Zealand sovereign ramps up issuance
The New Zealand Debt Management Office (NZDMO) is planning its most intensive offshore marketing effort for well over a decade as the government prepares to lift its bond programme substantially. Philip Combes, treasurer at the NZDMO, talks to KangaNews about the agency’s funding plans.

Roundtable: NZ – finding assets to match a steady demand revival
As the wholesale market in New Zealand gets back on its feet, supply issues are returning to the forefront. On August 18 participants from all sides of the market met at a BNZ Capital-sponsored roundtable in Wellington to discuss the key issues of a cautiously optimistic environment.

Feature: Desperately seeking supply
While retail investors supported the country’s bond market through the depths of the crisis and will remain a major driver of issuance and pricing, New Zealand’s fund managers are emerging from their shelters with a mood of growing, if cautious, optimism. There is cash to be put into play and once again, diversity of supply is heading up the agenda.
