About BC Investment Group

Established in 2015, BC Investment Group (BC Invest) commenced business as a nonresident mortgage lender and has since diversified to offer a wide range of financial products and services to more than 10,000 customers, covering mortgage lending and asset management services.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, BC Invest has expanded with offices in several countries including Australia, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Since inception, BC Invest has originated more than A$5.5 billion in mortgage loans in Australia and A$400 million equivalent in the UK. BC Invest continues to increase and diversify its lending activities in the two key geographies of Australia and the UK.

BC Invest is planning a blend of organic growth and diversification in existing markets, entry into new markets, development of new products and new strategic partnerships and acquisitions. The company also has strategic investments in fintech and property technology companies that underpin its growth strategy. BC Invest recently acquired 100% of Mortgageport Management.

Led by its chief executive, David Hinde, BC Invest has an experienced management team with backgrounds in real estate, credit, asset management, origination, private equity, and debt and equity capital markets.

Ownership and capital structure

BC Invest is majority owned by a group of institutional shareholders that includes Far East Consortium International, one of Asia’s largest alternative investment management firms. Another member of the ownership group is a leading Australian nonbank lender that specialises in fixed income, private credit, and equity and capital markets.

The business is supported by some of the leading global names in finance, including international banks, sovereign wealth funds and global credit funds.

BC Invest is governed by the BC Investment Group board of directors, which comprises representatives of major shareholders and other founding associates of the business.

Funding strategy

BC Invest has several warehouse facilities covering a broad range of loan products servicing domestic and foreign borrowers. The funding platform is underpinned by its Ruby, Crimson and Coventry RMBS capital market programmes, supporting A$3.5 billion of issuance in the past three years.

A key focus is to ensure the business has sufficient liquidity to fund through potential periods of market disruption. BC Invest’s target funding mix is for two-thirds of the balance sheet to be term funded via RMBS and the remainder through a diversified mix of short-term warehouse facilities. Additional funding flexibility is provided through a wholesale credit fund.
