KangaNews Fixed-Income Research Poll 2017: results announced

KangaNews is pleased to present the results of its 2017 Fixed-Income Research Poll. This is the only independent, specialist poll of fixed-income investors' views on relevant research in the Australian market. This year marks the seventh consecutive year the poll has been running, and like the previous year 2017 broke a new record in terms of responses. More than 90 qualifying votes were received from institutional investors.

The main stories from the results are the continued dominance of Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CommBank) and the extraordinary level of year-on-year consistency in outcome. CommBank took out the top spot in the best overall research provider category for the fourth year running. It also ranked first in an unprecedented seven other categories, including analysis on Australian corporations and provider of trade ideas.

CommBank also claimed one new category win in 2017 to improve on its haul from last year, taking top spot in the supranational, sovereign and agency (SSA) research category.

There is another notable success story, coming from ANZ. The bank improved its performance in Australian government and semi-government bond research as well as in the SSA and global markets categories, with second places in all three polls. ANZ also retained its first-place position from 2016 in the Asian category, it retains second in foreign exchange and takes third in relative-value and macroeconomic research.

ANZ’s positions in the global and macroeconomics polls are particularly noteworthy as the bank emerged from outside the 2016 top five.

Full coverage of the KangaNews Fixed-Income Research Poll 2017, including commentary from category winners, will appear in the June-July edition of KangaNews magazine.
