KangaNews Fixed-Income Research Poll 2018: results announced

The results of the eighth iteration of the KangaNews Fixed-Income Research Poll, the only independent, specialist poll of fixed-income investors' views on research in the Australian market, are supported by a record number of responses for the third consecutive year in 2018. More than 100 qualifying votes were received from institutional investors. KangaNews is pleased to reveal the full suite of 2018's winners.

Year-on-year consistency in outcome characterises the results again. Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CommBank) continues to dominate, taking out the top spot in the best overall research provider category for the fifth year running. It also retains first place in an additional six categories, including Australian government and semi-government, foreign exchange, and relative value.

There is another notable success story, coming from Westpac Instititional Bank (Westpac). The bank improves its performance in four categories in the 2018 poll more than any other bank, including in relative-value research where it was outside the top five in 2017. Most notably, Westpac reclaims the title of leading structured-finance research provider in 2018 that it lost to CommBank two years before.

Apart from CommBank, other 2017 category winners to retain their titles are Citi, which holds onto global research, ANZ, for research on Asian markets, and National Australia Bank, which tops the macroeconomic research category.

Full coverage of the KangaNews Fixed-Income Research Poll 2018, including commentary from category winners, will appear in the June-July edition of KangaNews magazine.
