About MA Money

Established in 2004, MA Money is a nonbank residential mortgage lender specialising in residential loans for customers who require a flexible alternative that is tailored to meet their individual financial needs. It is responsible for originating, underwriting, funding and servicing its receivables portfolio.

MA Money is experiencing considerable growth providing lending solutions for people to realise their dreams. The MA Money loan book grew by 85% in the 12 months to August 2023.

MA Money offers choice and flexibility to its customers through a team of experienced lending professionals, innovative mortgage products and competitive pricing. The product offering, which ranges across prime, near-prime and specialist credit, is tailored and assessed to meet individual borrower criteria.

MA Money's distribution model is broker focused with access to major aggregator platforms. MA Money has more than 7,500 accredited mortgage brokers, representing approximately 40% of total brokers in Australia. Technology is a critical component of the business strategy and enables a broader product offering and better service.

Ownership and capital structure

MA Money was 100% acquired by MA Financial Group, an ASX top 300 listed financial services firm specialising in asset management, lending, corporate advisory and equities.

Launched in 2009, MA Financial has advised on more than A$110 billion of transactions and raised more than A$13.9 billion of equity capital for its clients. MA Financial has A$8.9 billion in assets under management. Established as a joint venture with NYSE-listed Moelis & Company – a leading global independent investment bank – the firm has grown to become a team of more than 550 across locations in Australia, China, Hong Kong and the UK.

MA Financial manages A$4.4 billion of real estate equity and debt across core and emerging real estate and credit sectors including retail, office and hospitality.

Funding strategy

MA Money has strategic funding plans in place to ensure sufficient funding is in place to support business growth. The business has established warehouse facilities with domestic banks providing senior funding and leveraging MA Financial Asset Management for mezzanine funding.

The long-term funding strategy of the business is to establish a term securitisation programme and become a frequent issuer. MA Money has a strong relationship with a range of domestic and international investors. It has taken a proactive approach of engaging with these investors and discussing the business strategy and potential investment opportunities.
