Municipality Finance (MuniFin) is the only public-sector-owned credit institution in Finland specialising purely in the local-government sector. MuniFin offers funding to municipalities, municipal federations and organisations owned or controlled by these, and housing corporations that serve the public good by raising funds in the Finnish and international capital markets. MuniFin was established in 2001 after the merger of the ‘old’ Municipality Finance (established in 1989) and Municipal Housing Finance (established in 1993).

MuniFin leads the way for sustainable investments in Finland. MuniFin is a well-established issuer of green bonds issued under its Green Bond Framework. MuniFin issued its first social bond in early September 2020 under its Social Bond Framework. Both frameworks have been drafted in accordance with the Green Bond Principles and Social Bond Principles and are supported by an external second-party opinion.
