About BC Investment Group

Established in 2015, BC Investment Group (BC Invest) commenced business as a nonresident mortgage lender and has since diversified to offer a wide range of financial products and services to its client base of more than 7,400 customers. These services include mortgage lending, asset management, and tax and accounting services.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, BC Invest has expanded to 11 offices in seven countries, including Australia, the UK, Singapore, greater China, Malaysia, New Zealand and Vietnam.

Since inception, BC Invest has originated more than A$2 billion in mortgage loans within Australia. The company launched its operations in the UK in December 2020 and has established its first warehouse facility there. BC Invest is planning substantially to increase and diversify its lending activities within these two key geographies in the near term.

BC Invest’s growth strategy is a blend of organic growth and diversification in existing markets, entry into new markets and development of new products, and new strategic partnerships and acquisitions. The company also has strategic investments in fintech and property technology companies that underpin its growth.

Ownership and capital structure

BC Invest is majority owned by a group of institutional shareholders, including Far East Consortium International (FEC), one of Asia’s largest alternative investment-management firms, and a leading Australian nonbank lender specialising in fixed income, private credit, equity and capital markets.

BC Invest is supported by some of the leading global names in finance, including international banks, sovereign-wealth funds and global credit funds.

BC Invest is governed by the BC Investment Group board of directors, which comprises representatives of major shareholders and other founding associates of the business.

Funding strategy

BC Invest has several warehouse facilities covering a broad range of loan products servicing foreign and domestic borrowers. The funding platform is underpinned by its Ruby RMBS capital markets programme, which saw more than A$900 million in issuance over two transactions in the seven months to 30 June 2021.

A key focus is to ensure BC Invest has sufficient liquidity to fund through potential periods of market disruption. BC Invest’s target funding mix is for two-thirds of the balance sheet to be term funded via RMBS, with the remainder through a diversified mix of short-term warehouse facilities. Additional funding flexibility is provided through a wholesale credit fund.
